Howdy hi! Welcome to Five Star Fridays, a monthly feature where I encourage you to share the love by leaving a 5 star review for a business that has really impressed you recently.
One of the things I care about is small businesses, and supporting people in doing what they love, but I totally understand if you want to avoid consumerism in any forms, so you can change your settings to opt out of Five Star Fridays without opting out of the entire newsletter. Easy!
Today, I had a delivery day that really screamed “I’m 28”: my two parcels were a bottle of wine and toilet roll.
Why was I getting a bottle of wine delivered instead of just going to the shop like a normal person, you ask? Well, you might remember that last year I wanted to get into wine more. With that in mind, I hosted a wine tasting and dinner party for my birthday, and my friend and I fell in love with a particular pet nat (yes I do live near East London, why do you ask?) that we now get in to treat ourselves every once in a while. Today is one of those occasions.
And who introduced us to those wines? The brilliant Feminist Wine Bar, a pop-up wine bar that creates themed wine tastings based on whatever you want (I’m talking everything from chilled reds and sparklings to brat summer, Taylor Swift or Beyoncé — seriously). And this is exactly the aim of FWB, to bring wine knowledge to people who might feel excluded or unwelcome in these spaces.
I LOVED having Natalie for my birthday dinner — she brought everything for a fabulous wine tasting without any pretence. She was also really helpful in curating the wines to suit my tastes and didn’t make me feel stupid as a newbie wino. I even found a new favourite wine for special occasions!
Where will you leave a review for this week? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

Sometimes your FSF (that's Five Star Friday, for us in the know) doesn't have to be public; it can be straight to HQ about a stellar employee
